The Retlaw One consist was replaced with walk on cars because of the difficulty of loading and unloading the park train from the platforms. As great as they looked and as comfortable as they were, they took too much time to get guests on and off the trains at the station. They were replaced with the Narragansett style walk through cars.
The trains at Disneyland were not owned by the park but remained the personal property of Walt Disney for many years. Each consist was numbered Retlaw One, Retlaw Two, etc. for the Retlaw company that administered and operated the trains. Retlaw = Walter spelled backwards.
