583/683- The Last Survivor.

That engine wouldn't have survived either if the D&RGW still owned it at the end.
For some reason I don't understand, it was numbered #583 for a long time at the Museum. Then the tender was switched and so was the number.
As I understand it, the wholesale destruction of the D&RGW steam fleet was Pearlman's doing. And he did it well. Every single one, gone without a trace. It's really a miracle that so much narrow gauge stuff survived.
