The City of Montrose owns the engine and caboose. The city has put the NPS on notice that it is in violation of the agreement for the current bridge display because the NPS has failed to perform required maintenance. The NPS is going after budget money that would eventually see the engine and cars removed from the bridge and be restored, again, and then put on display with the other ng equipment at Cimmaron, probably in an appropriate structure to protect the equipment. But, Bell from CHS has approached the town for use of the engine for the CHS, and I heard that there is another effort to have the equipment moved to the Ridgway museum. So, a lot of things happening all at once, and the position of the city is that they don't have any money to spend on the equipment. He who has the deepest pockets, and not necesarily the best solution, just might win.
