I had always heard that it was the Fireman that had been the first one to see the rock and gave the warning. Sounds like we mite have the great rock spotting and who gets credit for it controversy. I'am not taking sides, but the mainline does curve to the left at the 492 rock site, advantage fireman..There is a good story about the wreck on a Telegrapher's web sit (he used to work for the D&RGW) and now I can't seem to find the link.
