Hank:
People initially thought that was OO, but I believe it is actually Rotary OY which was brand new. OY had ladders on the side on 00 had grab irons.
The shops in Salida were not as large or as well equipped as Alamosa. The Alamosa shops were the main narrow gauge shops. Salida was capable of repairs and some minor rebuilds. They did rebuild most of the high side gons there, but major work would have been done in Alamosa.
Otto Perry has pictures of a freight in summer with two or three flangers heading back to Salida. They had been in Alamosa for shopping. A retired D&RGW engineer told me of taking his engine to Alamosa for repairs. He stayed there until the work was done. Interesting bit of trivia about him. He started on the D&RGW in Gunnison in 1914 and retired in the 60s and never made it to Chama or Durango until after he retired.
