According to the D&RGW records, 268 never had a dual gauge coupler. C16 number 278 did.
The D&RGW had two K36s and later two K37s equipped with dual gauge couplers for switching a the car dumper in Salida. Normally a standard gauge 2-8-0 took care of those duties, but for some reason, the D&RGW felt the need for two of the Ks to be so equipped.
