Dan Markoff did a better job of restoration with the "Eureka" than did the gov with "Jupiter". Jupiter looks exceptionally sharp, but it was redone with the idea of being stuffed and mounted, thus cutting a lot of corners. One prime example is the failure to put back the boiler feed water pipes when they did the preservation job for the Smithsonian.
Also of note is that I've been to the Smithsonian a few times, and what used to be the Railroad Display has been blended into the overall transportation theme. This means that a lot of what we'd think as cool stuff has become rift-raft junque, removed from display, crated, and warehoused. Smithsonian used to have a lot of American railroad artifacts and more locomotives. It's all been streamlined with a few large displays ... keep them cattle (visitors) moving.
