Here's another article to be used in the next 'ON TRACK' webzine issue; the Alder Gulch Short Line, between Virginia City and Montana City, Montana. 30" gauge, yet no railroad ever existed here previous to the 1960s.
Now here's the big question; does anybody here remember going to the *first* Alder Gulch in Virginia City, Montana in the mid-1960s, using 2 ex-Anaconda Copper Davenport teakettles, operated by Charles Bovey?
The line's current pride and joy is ex-FCM #12, an outside-frame Baldwin Consolidation, rebuilt over the course of several years by John Larkin of Michigan after being purchased from its display site at Edaville.
What usually happens here is I wind up writing an article, yet have no photos to use with it. If anyone around would happen to have some photographs on hand of this fine operation both present and past, they'd make a fine addition to our article. Full credit given. Thanks,
Ed Kelley
