Regarding gauge; "you may want to open the gauge up somewhat too". The curve limits I gave in my last post are from properly gauged narrow gauge track. That would be 1/4 inch wider for each 10 degrees of curvature, therefore the 31 degrees is for 36 ¾” distance between the rails.
If you ever plan to oil the sharp curve rails of a wye track, carefully only oil the inside of the head of the outer rail (flange contact), and the top head of the rail of the inner rail (for wheel slip). Don't get any oil on the head of the outer rail, as that is the one you use for traction. There was a SLSF engine crew who wished they knew that data, years ago. [P-A from years of doing it]
