Nice response--non-emotional, factual, and realistic--refreshing to see on this discussion group. The most recent grants are located at the link below. I'm not sure if the entire 11 years or so of grants are listed anywhere on the web, but there are published lists available from CHS, including a 10 year annual report done a year ago. On the site listed below, click on the Project Snapshots link, then the Lewis Mill, and you'll see the type of project I've worked on with CHS grant money. Those are before pictures of the Lewis Mill, and it now has a new roof, with more work scheduled for this coming summer. Our other projects listed there include the Old 100 Boarding House, Smiley Building, and Silverton Congregational Church.
A key point is that an organization or group has to take on these historic sites and buildings, apply for a grant, and put up some match money--the initiative comes from those wanting to preserve things, and CHS provides the means in the form of money.
