Salida to Pueblo was, IIRC, the route for the unit trains of narrow gauge cars. Salida to Leadville was the other direction.
Photos of Florence & Cripple Creek cars on the Denver Boulder & Western indicate that there was circuitous interchange possible at one time. F&CC to D&RG at florence, D&RG Florence to Salida to Leadville; D&RG to C&S at Leadville, Leadville to Denver to Boulder on the C&S. (The C&S had laid a third rail from Denver to Boulder to facilitate interchange with the Colorado &Northwestern / DB&W). C&S to DB&W at Boulder, Boulder to Sunset on the DB&W. Theoretically during this time frame one could have had a Silverton Gladstone & Northerly car routed from Gladstone to Ward, interchanging several times. Why anyone would have done so is a more important question. I cannot imagine anyone shipping car load lots of merchandise from Ward to Galdstone. Still, one can conjecture. and no doubt, someone will come up with a photo to prove that it happened at least once.
