I have never heard whether or not the curves at Windy Point were compensated. Maybe some of the old timere can answer that.
One story of interest concerning that stretch of the RR is this. Windy Point always had a snow drift problem until a few years before the line closed when they did bulldozer work around the point to clear fallen rock which was about to the point of fouling the clearences. I heard the MW Foreman tell the Trainmaster that shoving that loose rock over the side had created a shelf that caught the wind and carried the snow away and that it had eliminated that problem.
