Although not pertaining to the NG, this is appropos to the subject. A number of years ago I was traveling by Amtrak on the Coast Starlight. As we passed over the bridge at Portland, an announcement was made reminding the car attendants to disable their dump valves. I asked what that was all about and got the following explanation.
This was before the use of full-retention toilets was mandadated, and Amtrak's cars had automatic dump valves on the holding tanks which were supposed to be open only at speeds over 25 mph. Apparently one of the valves malfunctioned as the train was slowly crossing the bridge and dumped its load all over a local big wig politician below who was having an afternoon dalliance with his paramour du jour on his boat passing below. (Timing is everything!)
Henceforth, by ordinance, Amtrak was required to manually ensure the dump valves were indeed closed when crossing the bridge.
This certainly conjures up a delightful visual image, and one which deservedly should be repeated in many other locations to satisfy a certain primal urge I have when it comes to politicos.
