I recall reading sometime in the past, (where I don't remember- it may have been Trains), about train travel on the old "Chili Line".
The writer wrote how, when using the "toilet" on the coaches, one had to time their "discharge" while passing over a trestle as to avoid burning their posterior with the alkaline sand.
