It's sure good to hear that the D&S seems to have a lot on the ball now. I was only fortunate enough to be able to visit once, back in Sept. of 96. They were down to three operable locomotives at the time, and they had a charter train scheduled in addition to the three regular runs. They ended up canceling the last run of regular passengers, and left a whole platform filled with angry and very disappointed tourists. The whole situation was handled badly. I felt that they should have postponed the #2 train, and tried to combine them, and try to get volunteers to give up their ticket if their travel plans would allow them to stay another day, etc.. I was fortunate to ride the day earlier, and I was there for a roundhouse tour. The "tour guide" was a girl from the gift shop, that didn't know a thing about what was going on. (She said that the cupola on a caboose was a break room for train crews while out on the road) The 480 and 481 had been apart for years, and didn't seem to have any activity going on recently. The 482 was the only K-36 in service.
