Taylor,
Kelley ansered most of your questions, but in the Vapor catalog I referred to a low voltage DC powered pump was offered as an option. Without it I believe it takes a couple of hours for the car to begin to be evenly heated; with it, I believe it gets even in less than an hour.
Every car I have seen with a Baker has the expansion tank located as high as possible in the car. This will be noted in some designs by a bump on the clerestory roof accompanied by a vent, safety valve and water fill. (In the original design this safety valve was a rubber ball!) This is probably how the comments noted on the thermodynamic circulation are taken care of.
In a modern version I would probably use one of the bladder equipped expansion tanks to keep the possibility of waterlogging of the expansion tank down.
