It seems like one major disadvantage to this type of heating system would be the danger of freezing and busting the piping or heating unit when not in use. I'm not clear on how a system of this type would obtain water circulation by convection also called thermosyphon with the radiating units lower than the heat source. Amoung my various hats, I am a heating contractor and I have a 1920 vintage hot water heating system in my home. The heated water circulates by convection without a pump. The boiler is in the basement, and all of the piping grades up so heated water can flow up without restriction, and the returning cooler water flows on grade back down the return pipes. Perhaps someone can describe how the Baker system operated.
