Re: D&S or CATS???

My wife and I have ridden overnight Chama to Antonito, then back going on twenty times in the past 17 years. We'll be doing it again in early October. We have always started at Chama. The Narrow Gauge Inn at Antonito (800-323-9469) is close and adequate. Not the Marriott but clean, decent and friendly, and an easy walk from the depot. The restaurant next door is not bad either, and both are reasonable cost. While we've always maintained that if you ride only to Osier...from either end...you miss two-thirds, we can also say that the trip from Chama to Antonito is different than from Antonito to Chama, and both are indeed terrific. By contrast, we'll also be taking our third trip on the D&S this year (for which the parlor car seats are receommended). Pete Bellos
