Herb I respectfully disagree.
I present to you Gold Nugget ca 1958, from Daveland.com That's a green jacket, domes and pumps. It is a very dark green.
I have an original slide from 1954 and it shows the same green, I don't have a slide scanner though. Note the red roof just like the color photos The train tracker posted. I believe KBF went along with the color pallet that 340 came with, regardless of who actually painted it.



Here she is again in 1961, still green. This one is from Gorillas don't blog.



From the photo you posted here is a close up of the headlight. I clearly see green body color, green chimney, black top, and black and gold scroll work.
