Right On, John -
Over the years I made four or five attempts at re-scanning and re-tinkering with this one in a vain attempt to bring out the details that showed when it was projected. After wasting three or four man-weeks to get this version* I finally gave up, and sent the original (along with the rest of my D&RGW and C&TS 35mm slides) to The Friends to eliminate the "perfection temptation"

. . . But not until after I solved the problem once and for all by eliminating Photoshop and commissioning Jeff Ellingson to create a watercolor painting from the photo

* Like John (and Olaf), I have been retiarded for a long time. And I still have lots of other photos to scan.
