I was up there last August to help wrangle scaffolding to fix the section house roof for the on-coming winter, took a few pictures:
A lot dryer than at the time of John's photo, snowshed is truncated, blades on the semaphore. More pines on the mountainside now.
A great place to be. 10,000ft MSL, Scenery is gorgeous, quiet except for the occasional passing car. Oh, and the occasional train...
I miss the dinner trains from Chama, ride up to the pavilion through the snowshed, get a great meal with entertainment (one trip, a John Denver cover artist, my twin granddaughters age 12 knew all the songs), and on the return trip we'd go out to the open car where the Milky Way is gloriously splayed across the oh-so-dark sky.
Anyway, back to scheduled programming...
