Date on the 40

I had a vague recollection of seeing something about these engines in the Iron Horse News. Posts in the IHN confirm your date of 1968 for the 44. And the April 1972 issue describes the trip north for the 40 (along with the bigger 111) as far as the Mexican border. Couldn't find anything about its arrival in Colorado, but the post did say it was destined for the Central City operation. Whatever happened to the bigger and more modern 111?
