Im curious about these patterns, From my perspective it would be interesting too to know more about how certain mineral traffic was transported. I found out recently that most of the High-Grade ore that came out of the mountain's not far from my home was shipped in box cars, loaded in either burlap bags or in 55-gallon metal barrels. I always associate rock materials being transported in open gondolas or hoppers, yes maybe low-grade materials. I remember as a kid climbing in some of the open gondola's that were sitting on a siding not far from my home and finding pyrite bearing quartz, in the corners of these cars. It was a shock to me when I visited with an old-timer from the place of my employment who had previously worked in the mines and having him explain how High-Grade materials were transported vs. low grade materials. Fun Stuff....
