No, I'm not saying that. The only reason there was a second caboose out of Durango was to return 0503 back to Alamosa where it was based. It came west on the "mad dash". Cabooses were almost sacred. They went from thier initial terminal to Chama and back. Only under unusual circumstances did they work through to the other end of the railroad.
There were times when a second caboose was on a train to accomodate special guests of the railroad.
