I just looked at the first disk in our "Last Steam Freights 1968" with movies my brother Randy shot, and my stills interspersed. There is a still of mine showing 498 with two cabooses heading out for Carbon Junction. Then there is a movie clip showing the front and end of the train at Arboles. So Earl was right that the 2 cabooses usually went through to Durango and back to Alamosa.
