Better yet, use the ones that already exist. The original MacDermot drawings are largely still out there, thanks to passing through the same hands that owned the equipment; those that survive are split between the California State Railroad Museum library (where Al Smith donated them) and Swanton. The cabooses housing Swanton's archives, including the one Al used as a personal office outside his home in Los Gatos, were unaffected by the fire.

Years ago, a longtime Swanton volunteer teased a long-term dream of replicating one of the passenger coaches in as-built condition — with a roof. A fat insurance settlement certainly would have provided that opportunity and more.
