Earl I was suggesting maybe there was no train from Durango on this particular day, and there may have been no caboose in Chama to go west, so they would need one for that, and one to go east as well. But since there was a train from Durango, that's a mute point now. So when 497 ran back to Durango that was it for 497, as it didn't run after 1967.
