Just for the hell of it I opened my copy of the original full-frame scan in Photoshop, cropped it without looking at what you had done, and then compared the two. The only difference was just a hair more foreground and less sky in my version — the right edge of the mountain in the background was EXACTLY the same! *
OTOH, with photo 671205a05 (the fifth frame on roll 'a' of 12/05/67) I would have given #493 more room to run before going off the edge of the print and followed the old "rule of thirds" by placing a point of interest – in this case the engineer and '4' on the cab – at 1/3 up and 1/3 over from the bottom left and secondarily the number plate on the smokebox at roughly 1/3 up and 1/3 over from the bottom right:
