And if enough people go busting thru the brush to make something that looks like a trail it becomes a channel for erosion every time it rains. Also a problem with the mega-genius types who short cut switchbacks.

PS sorry if I offend, people who can't be bothered to stay on the trail, in spite of the damage they cause, have been a pet peeve of mine for over 50 years, along with the ones who toss their junk all over the woods.
