Was the 432 story true???

John Norwood had written that 432 (later 375) was originally a man-killer to fire. But then at some point, some exhausted fireman simply threw some coal just inside the door, and within minutes she was raising the pops on Marshall Pass. I realize she was scrapped close to a lifetime ago, but are there any accounts of her steaming ability??? I thought it was a great story, but perhaps just that?
