Ben,
The site does not mention any after-hours activities....meaning after 5PM. My guess is that with so many locomotives on the property, coordinating their movement and positioning for such an event would be a challenge. In addition, they would need someone to provide professional lighting.
This event appears to be a fair bit different than their normal July 4th "everything that runs runs" event, which I have attended in the past. They don't appear to be advertising the normal 9AM parade of power around the loop. THAT was the best photo opportunity in the past. In fact, for this event, most attendees won't be admitted until 10AM. So, photography may be difficult in the mid-day July sun. About the only photographer-friendly option that is currently offered is the early entry (8AM), which is a $50 premium upgrade each day. They indicate that they will limit attendance to 40 people between 8AM and 10 AM. I bought early entry tickets for all 4 days. And yes, it gets pricey when you do that, but hey, Comrade Putin could blow up the world tomorrow, so why not spend the loot and enjoy the show.
