i have mixed feelings about Jay having been the target of his wrath several times years ago. He rode into Chama with the good intentions of helping the railroad, even organizing fund raisers auctioning off items on eBay to support the new operating company replacing old George B.. When the new operating company didn't want his 'help' on the BOD, he launched a multi year war on how they were running the railroad. To be sure MANY mistakes were made, but they were certainly unintentional. Jay kept up his personal attacks on many of them for years long after those board members were gone and a new operating company was formed which seemed to me as being petty and vindictive.
To his credit, his Chama Steam charters certainly showcased what kind of charters the CATS was capable of, and stood right up there with some of the mega charters of the early 1990's in their size. They probably set the blueprint for the charters we have been seeing in the last few years building on the quality of the trips.
Jay later dropped his Friends bashing attacks and even worked with Clyde Putman's team on repairing air brakes on the cars used in charters. Jay's time in Chama was a combination of Yen and Yang, but he certainly will be remembered.
