I disagree. There are only so many 36" gage locos available, and the opportunity was there. I think the D&S had specific uses for the 1201 and 1202 in mind. Full size locos are fairly expensive to run when a smaller engine may work better. Fortunately D&S didn't bet everything on the MP&ES locos or wait for more than two of them.

Too bad. I am curious to what they were going to actually end up being.
