On pages 154-155 of "Silver San Juan" there is a picture of RGS pile driver 0620 being powered by Class 60 engine #6 working on a trestle in Lost Canyon in 1906. Picture is credited to Barney Cornelius, Colorado Railroad Museum collection.
In the picture it appears that #6 is connected by its tender to the "doghouse" end of of #0620 and there appears to be a long pipe, not a hose, running from the steam dome back over the cab & tender (supports on both) to the pile driver.
For whatever that is worth.
