A few years ago, I was driving from Southern California to Santa Fe for a cousin's daughter's wedding and going east from the Phoenix area to the Rio Grande I travel on US 60.
Even though there has been work (and repaving at the time of that trip) and a fairly recent bridge at the bottom. All I can say about the decent and the climb at the Salt River is "
OMG!"
A very interesting trip on US40 to the Rio Grande. Stayed the night at Show Low. And east of there in the middle of nowhere there was a double-track grade crossing! Well it is part of the
The Very Large Array Radio Telescope facility.
