I'm still driving the stock 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD seen in two of them. Best car I've ever owned, including the '87 Toyota 4-Runner that was stolen out of my carport 18 years ago this week. As seen in Chris' photo of his friend's Jeep – posed in the same spot as my Ford in the shot above – Ophir Pass has some very steep spots in both directions, so as noted by Steve Forney below, traction – not clearance – is the bigger concern. I also made it over the pass in both directions in a 1966 VW camper MANY years ago, but westbound there's one short but VERY steep stretch just before the summit where my traveling companions had to get out and help with a little push for about ten or fifteen yards.
