>>>"There was no real discussion about the situation with the current operator, in particular, what the problems with the lease renewal might be. Privileged information and confidentiality were cited. I would liked to have learned more (who wouldn't) but can appreciated their no comment."

It concerns me greatly that it seems this entire scene has become centered on the naiveness and financial debacles of the CHS and the economic impacts on the area (important as those issues are), with the Ashbys and their team being forgotten and unrecognized. Why is their 30 year record of exemplary performance and investment in the GLR now to be apparently cast aside so lightly? Was there no one at the meeting who stood in support of them and demanded to know the detailed issues of why they’re being dismissed so summarily? Have their diligent responsibilities to the area and its historical value made no impact on anyone?
“Privileged information” and “confidentiality”can easily be labels for irresponsibility, and the unwillingness of the CHS to disclose any information along these lines only makes for strong suspicions that aren’t complimentary in any way! After all, isn’t the CHS essentially a public agency responsible to at least the residents of Colorado? It seems they should be open and willing to discuss the basic points upon which the impasse centers, and why those points are so non-negotiable even with the 30-year record of the excellence and integrity of the Ashby team that has been discussed on this board.
