As a lot of folks know, but some don't yet.... DRHS is in the process of back dating 315 to her late teen early 20's D.& R. G. running, when she was first numbered as 425. She will stay in this look for the year, and into the Victorian Iron Horse Event.
As someone else noted earlier she has been pulled out of her winter stall, We finished up her annual inspection.
To back date her from her restored 1940 date, We made an exact working copy of the teens gas headlight as they were converted to elect., A replica wooden ( we will call it a Cow Catcher Because it's not exactly historically correct if you look very closely) The rear headlight will be removed, and accurate cab and tender lettering will be applied. ( it will match the lettering on 168 )
Today, Saturday May 15th, we fired her up..... The first steam on the C&TS of 2021.... Wahoo!!!!, Newley appointed Commissioner, Scott Gibbs, Had the honor of blowing the first Steam Whistles of 2021.... Three long blasts, to let the Community of Chama know that steam was alive again on the C&TS.
The freshly painted Cab and Tender awaiting lettering.
Numberous other folks came by to take photo so I expect to see some more attached to this thread.
On Sunday May 16th, 425 will be used as a yard switcher, to make up the train for next weeks Friends work secession, where 425 will haul a work train up into the narrows, while the friends work crew, does fire mitigation work along the right of way..
Chama and the C&S is comming alive again...
