Thank You for the excuse to procrastinate again, Olaf -
Instead of paying bills or logging on to straighten out a mistake by @#$%& Blue Shield health insurance, I spent a good deal of time looking through all of the copies of his 1962 and '63 photos that Tom gave me a few years ago, and found
dozens of shots of #491 in action (well, more than 30 anyway). Many of them are "going away" shots, so in spite of Greg Scholl's trying to earn membership in the Fraternal Union of Curmudgeonly Geezers ("Old FUCGers") by complaining about Scott's thread, I'm going to present at least one full post's worth (five, count 'em, five) or maybe more over there, and eventually either add a few more here or use them to start another "D&RGW in the Olden Days" thread.
In any event, here's one of them as a "Preview of Coming* Attractions"
:
I don't see enough trees in the background – or even stumps – to justify naming this place 'Lumberton', so I am guessing the above photo was taken in the sweet little village of 'Dulce'.
* Note that – based on other photos in the series – this IS a going-away photo, and could have been legitimately posted on Scott's thread.
