Let's wrap-up what we've learned about the Costa Rican RR.
I want to emphasize that the Costa Rica RR is 3.5 feet gauge and began in the 1880s.
It is for sale (or whatever) by the Costa Rican government.
The line began at Limon (on the Caribbean side), then up to San Jose, then from San Jose, down to Puntarenas (Ferry boat connections to Nicoya Peninsula .
The "Atlantic Station" in San Jose is a museum but would likely go to whomever got a license to run and operate the railroad.
The line does not connect with Nicaragua to the north nor to Panama to the south. It runs east and west, not north and south.
An earthquake in the early 1990s destroyed some of the line between Limon and San Jose and that is what closed the line.
It was electrified from San Jose to Puntarenas.
Much--most of the line is complete and whomever operates it could appeal to tourists and Costa Ricans who love to go to the beach.
