I need to correct something John, and I might have misled you when we talked last night.
First, I must say that of any volunteer I met through the Friends of the C&TS, Ted probably meant the most to me.
Their first project was at Cumbres, I believe 1991 and 1992. At the same time, there was another team was working at Sublette.
1993 was the first year the Osier work started in earnest. I know that because we had a team come in prior to the work session and rebuild the Osier spur so that the railroad could set out a car of materials and a car for trash there. That was the last help they needed from other teams!
Yes, every year from then on, the Square Nail Gang worked hard to restore the historic buildings at Osier. This probably continued for 20 years. We have some of the video from 1993's work session tapes:
I wasn't a member of the Square Nail Gang in Osier, but I made it a point to camp with them every year. For several years we would set up at "Sublette Heights", but later on they decided to move into town and take over the back corner of Mogote Meadows. There was always a campfire (when there were no drought conditions) and we always talked late in the night.
I won't post any photos, you'll have to wait until we write an article for the Dispatch on those projects. The official obituary is at: [

Ted would always say "Do the best you can with what you have to work with." I certainly will remember that today.

ps. I told Chris James I would try to help line up material for a Dispatch article. If any of you lurkers have some "Ted stories", could you get in touch with me at drgw0579 at comcast.net?
