I noticed the Durango & Silverton lettering on this, which I guess means it's not getting the more controversial gold/Tuscan scheme that the new units have...at least not right away. It's a nice nod to the history of these engines and those colors look at home in the Animas Valley. The other thing I noticed is the ampersand in the railroad logo...something conspicuously missing from the new units. It seems like a minor, minor thing, but somehow feels more complete and proper to me.
She looks and sounds good! The D&SNG continues to evolve beyond a static representation of the state of the D&RGW Silverton branch in 1981...and that's both understandable and inevitable. Any "new" acquisition of narrow gauge motive power is to be celebrated.
Also, as an EBT fan, I love seeing those hoppers in decent shape and in service.
