The state of the art logging equipment fascinates me. It is not just that it uses fewer people, but is also much faster and makes it possible to get to places with much less damage to the ground. The D&S is maintaining its ROW so the rules are very different than what they would be for say, a Forest Service timber sale. In my environmentalist days I couldn't bear to see any tree cut, then God did another trick and put some loggers in my life. Having to deal with people that didn't think like me was...educational.
A question (a crop of your photo attached). Was this trackage in disrepair or is the logging operation doing damage the railroad had to deal with as it proceeds?
