In 1912 and 1917, the four Catskill cars were converted to parlor cars.
In 1945, the cars were given the names Lake Atlin (218), Lake Dewey (220), Lake Lindeman (222), and Lake Marsh (224). Between 1948 and 1950, the cars received steel underframes. At some point, automatic brakes replaced the Westinghouse brakes. And, the cars have been heavily rebuilt.
Little more than the original superstructure frame remains from the 1880’s. But in the Skagway coach yard, in the evenings after everyone has left for the day, one can almost imagine the spirit of Rip Van Winkle snoozing in one of the cars. But, watch out for the headless horseman!
