You guys are correct. In the 50's, 60's and after that we were told beware of the water in Chama. On one trip with my wife she drank the water and paid for that the next day or so. Sense then we always get bottled water for drinking at least. We did use tap water for showers and such. I always assumed (Wrongly I guess), that the problem was eventually fixed. My last visit was 2014 and we had bottled water, or pop for drinking. I wonder why the water is so bad being not far down from the Rocky Mountain runoffs and so forth. Of course my brother and I used to drink out of the animas river and streams around the former AH Wilderness ranch back in the 60's. Somewhere on this board I red there was a ton of iron in the water from all the mine runoffs along the Animas!!! I guess the old adage applies---Just because it looks good doesn't mean its good for you!!
