Re: 8mm resources

I recently put a good deal of 8mm onto DVD for a friend of mine (good stuff - Alamosa to Durango in 1962, Missabe steam in regular service, early Soo Line diesels, CB&Q at Climax, etc...). I used a Sony Digital 8 camcorder with a "Color Slow Shutter" feature. The slow shutter all but eliminated flicker, and the film looks very, very good. (It was played back at normal speed through the projector, onto a very clean posterboard mounted on the wall). Editing was done on computer with Pinnacle Studio Verson 8 (very good program! $99!!). Output was direct to DVD.
