I tried the wired arrangement early on and gave up on it because of the complications. I remember spending hours stringing wire along the West Side, only to jump out of my sleeping bag to push the shutter and I had forgotten to take the lease cap off. The walk around time exposure was simpler.....so long as the subject wasn't moving. Now that you mention it, I remember that night in Ely, I think Tom Gildersleve also brought some lights. It was colder than a witch's tit. I think I tried shooting color film which didn't have the latitude to make good results likely....and they weren't.
