What an amazing set of pictures and story. It brings me back to the few times I worked as brakeman on the Snowplow of the Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway a few years ago. There were times where if you lost a hydraulic hose, got stuck, or even came dislodged from the rack rail, you were doing anything and everything to get the plow back to Manitou. No excuses! The plow was never left on the mountain over night while I worked there. That may not be anywhere near the extreme as to what was experienced on the Narrow Gauge, but it was the same can-do attitude seen here. In a blizzard on a 25% grade nonetheless!
