My memories of 1744 date back to May 4, 1958 when the 1744 pulled a fan trip over the Knights Landing branch. I borrowed my college roommate's Argus C4 and shot my first roll of Kodachrome.
It is really neat that she is not only coming back to California but to the PLA, a group that has the knowhow and track record to restore her, and their Niles Canyon Railway, a ex-SP line that she actually operated over.
