Depending on whatever "local agreements" were in place, they would have been paid their "daily rate" which would have covered 8 hrs of on duty time or 100 miles traveled, whichever came first. This would have covered whatever time they spent on the road going from Ridgway to Dallas Divide and return. In addition to this, it appears they got paid additionally for time spent switching in Ridgway, Dallas Divide and back in Ridgway. As this was over and above the 8 hour daily rate, it was paid as overtime.
My question is is why did the dispatcher send a lone Class 60 - C-16 , which is capable of pulling perhaps 3 loads or 5 empties up a 4% grade, to Dallas Divide all by itself?
In further reflection, this is simply the ENGINEMEN's time report. No conductors involved. I'm thinking these guys were on a helper engine assigned to train that continued on south.
At any rate, this was a nice day's work, sure beats the 16 hr slog they could have had.
